Our outdoor education program focuses on giving every child the opportunity to enjoy new and fun activities while encouraging development and growth of the person as a whole. We encourage each student to try their best in a safe and caring community and we love to see each student’s confidence grow and their friendships flourish. Our goal is to create a supportive learning environment where we focus on positive encouragement. We promote an active and healthy lifestyle and facilitate learning from the natural world around us. Give your students the chance to work together as a team, develop interpersonal and leadership skills, and build bonds with one another and teachers.

Healthy, quality meals are served regularly and provide the opportunity for conversations around the tables reflecting on the days’ activities. Special dietary needs of individual students, teachers and parent volunteers with food allergies and intolerances are met with alternative meal options. Gather around our outdoor pizza oven and enjoy the taste of authentic freshly-baked pizza, or opt for a beach BBQ on the shores of the lake.

Our facility is open year-round with winterized accommodation and meeting rooms for up to 130 people. These facilities include a large dining room which seats up to 150 and has incredible, unobstructed views of the lake. Several break-out rooms include a games room, a chapel, and meeting rooms. Our accommodations which are nestled in tall old growth forest include 4 cottages (each sleeping 8), 4 chalets (each sleeping 12) and a 17 bedroom lodge (each room sleeping 2) with laundry facilities and handicap washrooms. For a little bit more luxury our cozy 2-bedroom waterfront cabin (sleeping up to 4 people) is available at additional cost. Kick back on the private deck and enjoy peace, tranquility, and the breath-taking lake and mountain views at the end of a busy day.

Our camp and retreat centre is situated on the shores of the beautiful Kawkawa Lake, which is home to many species of fish, but is best known for its large kokanee, (land-locked salmon). The name of the lake is taken from the Halq’eméylem word Q’áwq’ewem, meaning “home of the loons”. From springtime through the summer we can observe the fascinating life cycle of the mountain toads as they descend to the lake in their hundreds and lay thousands of eggs. Over the ensuing weeks we watch how they develop from tadpoles into toads and then make their way up the mountainside. Visit us in September and see the salmon run at the nearby Sucker’s Creek with its walkways and platforms, which provide great viewing points.
